Felipe Drugovich won the feature race the Bahrain Grand Prix, as the championship leader, Mick Schumacher, narrowly lost the podium to Jehan Daruvala; The Indian got his first podium in Formula 2.
Drugovich took the lead, entering Turn 1 at the start, which he managed to hold until the end of the race. His dominance was clearly evident when the Brazilian crossed the checkered flag with a lead of more than 14 seconds over Callum Ilott.
Mick, on the other hand, had a considerably good run. He enjoyed a dramatic fight with Daruvala late in the race. Despite giving his best, he had to settle for fourth place. Although he had a decent run, he would still be concerned that his lead over Ilott has dropped down the driver table.
How was Mick Schumacher’s career in Bahrain?
Mick lined up at P10 on the grid alongside Lundgaard. It was never an obstacle for Mick though, as a spectacular start saw him climb to P5 on turn 4. Additionally, Mick’s championship rival Callum Ilott got off to a bad start as he ended up losing his lead to Drugovich. . at turn 1.

On Lap 2, Mick slipped into the top 3 by making a brilliant move over Armstrong at Turn 1. However, a slight blockage at that turn meant Armstrong was back in position in just seconds. Since then, Schumacher has been trapped behind him for more than eight laps.
Finally, Mick saw some light at the end of the tunnel, as he had an Ilott fighting right in front of him. To increase his lead on the championship table, Mick edged the Briton down the main straight with the help of DRS.
On the same lap, Armstrong blocked his tires, leaving the door open for Mick to snatch P2. This move was followed by a fairly uneventful run for Mick. However, that only lasted around 12 laps, as his race engineer asked him to pit on lap 20.

Mick messed up his final sector before pitting. Despite the team trying their best, Mick, as he joined the track, got stuck behind a bunch of cars with older tires. From there it was all about catching up with Mick’s favorites, which he did well.
Mick Schumacher vs. Jehan Daruvala
The real drama began with only three laps remaining in the race. On lap 29 Mick was right on Daruvala’s rear wing as the fight for P3 went down the wire.
Mick, on several occasions, used the DRS to pass the Indian. Unfortunately, he never managed to complete the move as Daruvala kept doing his late braking maneuver perfectly.
In the end, Daruvala fought back brilliantly as Mick had to give up his hopes of a podium finish. Ahead of these two was Drugovich, who won his third race this season, followed by Ilott, who performed an incredible second leg to regain his second position.
Ilott’s decent career has now increased his chances of overtaking Schumacher Jr on the championship table. However, will the Briton manage to finish this season ahead of Mick? Or will Mick crush Ilott’s hopes as early as tomorrow in the sprint race?
