Match 48 of the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) has the defending champions of the Mumbai Indians taking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore at Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Wednesday.
Mumbai Indians continue their stellar form from last year and rank first in the 2020 IPL points chart at the time of writing. Despite losing Rohit Sharma to injury last week, MI has managed quite well.
Aside from a star-studded batting drive, the Mumbai Indians boast of an all-out bowling attack. Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah have collected 33 wickets between them so far, while Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya have done well to restrict the flow of races.
Like MI, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have done well this season and are currently in third place by virtue of the net execution rate. Young Devdutt Padikkal and Washington Sundar have shown what they are capable of, while Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have lived up to their lofty expectations.
The last time these two sides met at the IPL, RCB needed a Super Over to bring out the best in MI. AB’s likes of Villiers and Ishan Kishan stood out as they played scorching shots in the exciting game.

The field at Sheikh Zayed Stadium is on the slower side, with bowlers dominating the roost for the last week or so.
While pacemakers have kept starters on their toes with an incisive swing, the nature of the field has allowed spinners to have a significant voice in the outcome of the game.
Hitters will have to bide their time in the middle before going big, wickets in hand being key in this spot. However, the previous game between RR and IM at this location, in which more than 380 runs were scored, hints that the wicket might have some life yet.
