Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said at a press conference on Sunday that some activity would be allowed in the least affected parts of the state while strict closure is seen in red zones with the highest number of cases.

“We need to start the economic wheels again. We are giving selective permits starting tomorrow, especially in orange and green areas, “he said, referring to areas with lower levels of infection.

Industries ready to provide housing for their workers during the blockade will receive a supply of food grains and permission to obtain raw materials from the state, he said.

“The state government is allowing green and orange zone industries to start production and processing activities in a restricted way. Industries will have to organize accommodation for their workers. They would not travel long distances to work,” he said.

Green areas are those that have not reported any cases of coronavirus, while orange areas are those where only a few cases have been reported.

The prime minister also said that, except for the essential services movement, all of the district’s borders would remain sealed.

Government prohibits e-commerce companies from selling non-essential products

Four days after e-commerce companies were allowed to sell products such as cell phones, refrigerators, and ready-made garments, Union Secretary of the Interior Ajay Bhalla issued an order excluding non-essential items from his business. The April 15 order had said that e-commerce platforms could sell such items from April 20.

Interior Ministry (MHA) officials previously said televisions and laptops could also be sold online, after which some e-commerce companies began accepting orders.

The Union Secretary of the Interior, Ajay Bhalla, also wrote a letter to the chief secretaries of all States and Territories of the Union for clarification.

“… I would like to clarify that while the operations of e-commerce companies for non-essential goods are prohibited, they will continue to operate for essential goods as previously allowed and continue to be allowed,” he said.

Bhalla also said that the workers, who are stranded in different parts of the country due to confinement, will be allowed to go to their respective work places within a state with certain conditions.

However, he made it clear that there will be no interstate movement of workers during the shutdown.
Since additional activities outside of containment zones have been allowed in the ‘consolidated revised guidelines’ effective April 20, these workers could participate in industrial, manufacturing, construction, agriculture and MNREGA jobs, he said.

Agriculture, construction, information technology (IT), industrial units in EEZs and rural areas, and e-commerce operations were among the selected sectors where coronavirus-induced blocking restrictions will be lifted from April 20 in an attempt to also reduce distress. caused to millions of people.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement on April 14 made the announcement to ease restrictions to allow for some “select necessary activities” in areas that are not hot spots of COVID-19, while declaring the extension of the three-week national blockade by others 19 days until May 3 to combat the pandemic.
