MHA issues SOP to the Indian nationals stranded abroad who wish to visit the country

New Delhi: The government on Sunday issued a Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) for the return of Indians stranded abroad due to the coronavirus lock, saying that it will be a paid service and preference will be given to those who are in difficulty, who have lost their jobs or pregnant women.

A similar SOP was also issued by the government for those who are trapped in India and the desire to travel abroad.

According to the latest SOP, issued by the Ministry of internal affairs of the Union, those who wish to return to India you will need to register with the Indian missions in the country, along with the necessary particulars as prescribed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Priority will be given to the persuasive arguments in distress, including migrant workers, workers who have been laid off, short-term visa holders in front of expiry of the visa, persons with medical emergencies, pregnant women, the elderly, forced to return to India, due to the death of a family member, and students, the SOP, he said.

The cost of travel, as specified by the carrier, shall be borne by such travelers, he said.

All who arrive from abroad, they will have to follow the guidelines for the quarantine of the agreements issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), the SOP, he said.
