MHA Extends Covid-19 Guidelines for Surveillance, Containment, and Precaution until March 31 | India News


NEW DELHI: The Home Office (MHA) issued an order on Friday to extend the existing Covid-19 guidelines for surveillance, containment and warning to remain in effect until March 31.
According to a press release, the ministry has asked states to accelerate the vaccination campaign against Covid-19.
“While there has been a substantial decline in active and new Covid-19 cases, there is a need to maintain vigilance, containment, and caution to fully overcome the pandemic. It has also been recommended to Union states / territories. that accelerate the vaccination of the target population to break the chain of transmission and overcome the pandemic, ”said the MHA.
The ministry has advised that strict containment measures be taken within containment zones.
Consequently, containment zones continue to be carefully demarcated; prescribed containment measures strictly followed within these zones; Appropriate Covid behavior was promoted and strictly enforced, and prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were scrupulously followed regarding various permitted activities, it added.
The Home Office has said that the approach focused on surveillance, containment and strict compliance with the guidelines / SOP, as envisaged in the guidelines issued on January 27, 2021, must be strictly enforced by the states and territories of the Union.
Up to 16,577 new Covid-19 cases and 120 deaths were reported in India during the past 24 hours, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) reported on Friday.
With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in the country has risen to 1,10,63,491, including 1,55,986 active cases with 1,07,50,680 discharges and 1,56,825 people have lost their lives so far.
