MG Gloster seven seater SUV launched in India from Rs. 28.98 Lakh

The new MG Gloster is available in 6 and 7 seater configurations, and has two diesel engine options

MG India today launched the Gloster SUV in India and reservations for the vehicle had already started last month. It is priced between Rs. 28.98 lakh and Rs. 35.38 lakh (ex-showroom). The full-size SUV was first unveiled in India earlier this year during Auto Expo 2020. It is a rebranded version of the Maxus D90, which is a luxury ladder-frame SUV from SIAC.

The MG Gloster is available as a 6 and 7-seater SUV, and comes in four trim options: Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. Under the Gloster’s hood is a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine, available in two configurations. Lower models sport a single turbocharger and generate 163 hp and 376 Nm. Higher models have a biturbo configuration, which will have 215 hp and 480 Nm.

Transmission options are limited to one: an 8-speed automatic torque converter. In the lower versions, the SUV has a rear-wheel drive system, while the higher versions have an on-demand four-wheel drive system. The Gloster also offers LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED fog lights, and diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Apart from that, many other premium features are offered such as push button start / stop, cruise control, a semi-digital instrument panel (with 8-inch TFT MID), ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, control system. three-zone climate control, massage seat (driver), and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with iSmart connectivity package.

It also offers autonomous level 1 features such as automatic parking assist, adaptive cruise control, a forward collision warning system and automatic emergency braking. In terms of dimensions, the MG Gloster is quite large; It has a length of 4985 mm, a width of 1926 mm, a height of 1867 mm and a wheelbase of 2950 mm.

It becomes MG Motor India’s new flagship vehicle and competes with other three-row body-on-frame SUVs in the Indian market, such as the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor and Mahindra Alturas G4. The introductory price range is valid until October 31, 2020 or other for the first 2,000 customers (whichever comes first).

Prices include Rs. 50,000 for MG Shield Customization as the all-wheel drive SUV looks to make a big impact in the full-size SUV space.
