Patna:
On Wednesday, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) shared a video of the newly appointed Bihar Minister of Education Mewalal Choudhary struggling to understand the lines of the national anthem during a flag-raising ceremony.
The RJD, Bihar’s main opposition party, has targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for appointing Choudhary, who faces corruption allegations, as his cabinet minister.
The undated video shared by the RJD shows Choudhary ruining the lines of the national anthem and singing incorrect lines at a flag-raising ceremony. He was surrounded by children and some adults while saluting the national flag.

Towards the end of the 38 second clip, he is seen saying “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande” while the children say “Mataram”.
“Bihar Minister of Education Mevalal Chaudhary, accused in several cases of corruption, does not even know the national anthem. Nitish Kumar-ji, is there any shame left? Where did the conscience sink?” the RJD tweeted in Hindi.
Mewalal Choudhary, 67, was suspended from the Nitish Kumar-led JD (U) in 2017 after a case was filed against him for alleged irregularities in appointments during his tenure as Vice Chancellor of the Bihar University of Agriculture in the Bhagalpur district.
However, Choudhary has dismissed as unfounded all the accusations against him related to corruption in construction and irregularities in appointments to the positions of assistant professor and junior scientist.
“No. Never. I have not written anything (about corruption in my electoral affidavit). I do not know where you get this information. I am the informant, I know. No one is above the law and there is a pending case in court . Not even a charge sheet has been filed. The investigation is ongoing. Nothing has happened, “Choudhary said when NDTV said his election affidavit indicated that a corruption case had been filed against him.
In a series of tweets, Tejashwi Yadav accused Nitish Kumar of appointing “criminals” to retain power in the state.
“Power is protecting criminals … Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has granted an exemption to looting and robbery by appointing Mewalal Chaudhary … Chief Minister will continue his speech on crime, corruption and communalism to save his chair … communities became ministers, “Yadav, 31, tweeted.
