Before the first phase of the District Development Council (DDC) polls, Jammu and Kashmir police banned PDP chairwoman and former CM Mehbooba Mufti from leaving her residence on Friday.

Mufti, who was going to visit Pulwama, said she has been placed under house arrest. While J&K police denied this and said he was “asked to postpone” the visit for security reasons, he was later prohibited from addressing the media at his residence as well.

On Friday, as he was leaving for Pulwama to meet with the family of PDP youth president and DDC candidate Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, who had been arrested by the NIA, a police vehicle blocked the door of his residence and was told that she couldn’t go.

“His cruelty knows no limits. Waheed was arrested on unfounded charges and I am not even allowed to comfort his family. Even my daughter Iltija has been placed under house arrest because she also wanted to visit Waheed’s family, ”Mufti tweeted.

“I have been illegally detained once again. For two days now, the J&K administrator has refused to allow me to visit @parawahid’s family in Pulwama. BJP ministers and their puppets can move to every corner of Kashmir, but security is an issue only in my case, ”he added.

Mufti also posted letters from the Pulwama district police and the director of the Special Security Group (SSG) on Twitter. “No anti-sabotage or ASL (advanced security liaison) verification has been conducted so far, plus all workforce is engaged for other election / operations related duties. As such, please kindly advise / request that you postpone the Pulwama tour program today, ”District Police wrote to the Director, SSG, who asked Mufti to reconsider the visit.

Denying that the head of the PDP had been detained, J&K Police tweeted: “PDP leader Ms. Mehbooba Mufti is not under house arrest. He was asked to postpone his visit to Pulwama simply for security reasons. “

However, when he called a press conference at his Fairview residence in the afternoon, police prevented the journalists from entering the residence. “We are one day away from the DDC vote and it is clear that the administrator here is using fear and intimidation in tandem to dampen any form of opposition,” Mufti tweeted after the press was denied entry. detention. Kashmir is an open-air prison where no one has the right to express their opinion.
