Mehbooba Mufti is not under house arrest, asked to postpone visit to Pulwama for security reasons: police

The leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, has not been placed under house arrest, police said on Friday, adding that she was asked to postpone her visit to the Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir for security reasons.

“The leader of the PDP, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, is not under house arrest. He was asked to postpone his visit to Pulwama for security reasons. @JmuKmrPolice, ”police said in a tweet.

Hours earlier, Mufti claimed that she and her daughter, Iltija Mufti, were placed under house arrest and not allowed to visit the Pulwama residence of party leader Waheed Parra, who was arrested by the NIA earlier this week.

“I have been illegally detained once again. For two days now, the J&K administrator has refused to allow me to visit @parawahid’s family in Pulwama. BJP ministers and their puppets can move to every corner of Kashmir, but security is a problem only in my case, ”the former prime minister said in a tweet.

Parra was sentenced to 15 days by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday after his arrest on Wednesday for allegedly conspiring with Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists to gain their support during the 2019 parliamentary elections.
