A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a car in the TP Nagar neighborhood of Meerut on Friday, police said Sunday.
The police arrested the accused, Pulkit Saini (20), following a complaint from the girl’s father.
“There was a rape case against the defendant and he was arrested on Saturday night,” said Dinesh Kumar, Police Station (SHO) Officer of TP Nagar Police Station.
The girl practiced judo and karate on a university campus, where the accused also practiced martial arts.
She had left her home in a two-wheeler on Friday night, but Saini stopped her outside a shopping complex, convinced her to park the vehicle there and drive him to the practice site.
He allegedly drove the car onto an isolated road and raped her in the vehicle. He threatened to hurt her if she recounted the incident to someone else.
The girl returned home and told her relatives about the incident, after which a first information report (FIR) was filed at the TP Nagar police station.
A forensic team also visited the scene and gathered evidence from the car, where the teenager was allegedly raped.
While the defendant’s car had a BJP flag, Meerut party chief Mukesh Singhal said the defendant was not a party member and was fraudulently using the Goraksha Samiti sticker and party flag on his car.
