Medical magazine calls for removal of Donald Trump due to coronavirus

The New England Journal of Medicine says that President Donald Trump’s administration should be removed by vote. In a blow to Kamala Harris, Vice President Mike Pence’s campaign said he had booked a ticket for dead rapper Tupac Shakur in Wednesday’s debate.

And Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is resuming negative publicity now that Trump is out of the hospital.

There are 27 days until the election and 68 days until the Electoral College meeting.

New England Journal of Medicine calls for removal of Trump administration

The New England Journal of Medicine is calling for the Trump administration to be removed for its handling of the coronavirus pandemic, the first time in the prestigious publication’s 208-year history to denounce a political candidate.

In an editorial titled “Dying in a Leadership Vacuum,” the magazine’s editors say that American leaders “have taken a crisis and turned it into a tragedy.” While not explicitly endorsing Biden, the editorial clearly puts the blame on the Trump administration and calls for a change of government.

“When it comes to responding to the greatest public health crisis of our time, our current political leaders have shown themselves to be dangerously incompetent,” the editors wrote. “We shouldn’t help them and allow thousands more Americans to die by allowing them to keep their jobs.

The editorial details flaws that it says are of “staggering” magnitude, comparing the US response with those of countries that implemented early testing and were able to contain the virus.

“Our current leaders have undermined trust in science and in government, causing damage that will undoubtedly outlive it,” the editorial says. Rather than relying on experience, the administration has turned to misinformed ‘opinion leaders’ and charlatans who hide the truth and facilitate the promulgation of outright lies. – Max Berley
