Medical Advice in Tamil Nadu: Four Students Test Positive for Covid-19 | Chennai News

CHENNAI: Four government school students, who attended medical counseling in Chennai on Wednesday, tested positive for Covid-19, officials from the Directorate of Medical Education said.
The test was conducted as a precautionary measure, as it was a function attended by Prime Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
The selection committee performed RT-PCR tests on the 262 candidates who attended the counseling.
“They are all asymptomatic and healthy. They were not among the 18 students who received admission cards from the CM,” said the director of medical education, Dr. R. Narayanababu.
“It was an incidental finding. However, we have informed the students, their parents and the district authorities. While these students will be isolated, their close contacts will be evaluated,” he said.
The management said that if other people who attended the counseling showed symptoms of the viral infection, they should be tested.
On Thursday, the RTP-CR tests were not carried out at the Jawaharlal Nehru indoor stadium, where the counseling took place. Instead, students and parents were asked to go through thermal scans, wash their hands with soap, use hand sanitizers, wear masks, and maintain social distance at all times.
