Massive Fire In Delhi Slum, 1,500 Huts Destroyed

A great fire broke out in the slums of Tughlakabad area on Monday night.

A great fire broke out in the neighborhoods of the South zone-East Delhi’s Tughlakabad area on Monday night.

The call was received at 12.50 am and 28 firefighters were transported to the site, a fire department official said.

The police and fire department took out all the slums of the occupants at the time, even when the majority were asleep.

The fire was controlled around 3:40 a.m., but around 1500 ranches were burned, leaving Hundreds of people homeless. The government is currently assessing the loss.

“We have received information about a fire at around 1 in the morning in the slums in Tughlakabad. The entire staff of the police came immediately. It is said that around 1,000-1,200 shanties caught fire,” Rajendra Prasad Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), the South East, said ANI.

“The locals are saying that most of the people came out of their huts after a fire. However, you can not verify as it is a big fire,” he said.

Firefighting operations are underway and the victim has been reported so far.
