Eight people were injured in a fire accident at a chemical factory in the Sangareddy district, neighboring Hyderabad, on Saturday. The fire was almost under control and efforts were made to put it out completely, police said.

The injured have been taken to hospital, they said, adding that more details will be known once the firefighting operation is complete. Television footage showed fire and smoke emanating from the scene shortly after the incident.

The fire was reported by Vindhya Organics Pvt Ltd in Hyderabad’s Bollaram Industrial Development Area. Police have identified a chemical reaction as the cause of the fire, ANI reported.

“A solvent was saved for a reaction after which it caught fire. The wounded were taken to hospital. The rescue operation is underway,” they said.
