Maruti Suzuki Sales: Maruti Suzuki Reports 33% Increase in September Sales to 1.48 Lakh Units |


NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki announced on Thursday a 33 percent increase in passenger car sales in September to 1,47,912 units.
India’s largest automakers sold 1,10,454 units in the same period last year.
In the period from April to September (first half of fiscal year 20-21), the company recorded a decrease of 36.1 percent to 4.24 lakh units. The company’s sales performance in the first half should be viewed alongside COVID-19 related disruptions, MSIL reported.
The company exported 7,834 units in September 2020, registering a growth of 9%.
Across the segment, Maruti Suzuki saw a 10.6% decline in the midsize sedan segment led by Ciaz.
The mini, compact and utility vehicle segments were a vital sales driver for Maruti Suzuki in the month of September.
The mini segment that comprises Alto and S-Presso registered a 35.7% growth increase to 27,246 units.
The compact segment, in which Maruti is a bulk driver (WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, Tour S) witnessed a staggering 47.3% growth to 84,213 units.
The utility vehicle segment, which includes Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, XL6, grew 10.1% to 23,699 units.
