Roberto Ayala has been talking about Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi and the differences between the two great Argentines.
There is always a lot of guesswork about which of the two can be considered the best, but the former defender says they are different players and difficult to compare.
“I played with both of them, with Diego I was taking my first steps. They are two soccer giants, and when he retires, Messi will be remembered, “he said.
“I don’t know if he will be like Diego, it doesn’t matter. They are different.
“Diego was pure art in all his gestures, Messi and Speedy González who carries the ball two centimeters from his foot.”

Ayala now works as Lionel Scaloni’s assistant with the Argentina national team and also spoke about Messi’s influence internationally. The 47-year-old said the team should take advantage of having its captain in the ranks, adding that he hopes Messi can “grow us as a team.”
