BENGALURU: In a strange statement, Karnataka’s health and medical education minister K Sudhakar Wednesday all 225 dared Karnataka MLA to clear up her extramarital affairs by submitting to “monogamy tests.” An hour later, he expressed regret after receiving criticism from the MLA, including some from BJP, in addition to the Spokesperson and opposition leaders.
“Nobody cared when Congress deliberately tried to smear six ministers. But my statement asking you to introspect has hurt some. I ask that you do not take my statement literally, but understand the pain and anguish of my words, ”Sudhakar said.
In reaction to the protest of the Congress in assembly during the last two days demanding the resignation of six ministers (including him) to obtain a gag order in the media, he said that the “test of monogamy” will expose all those who take the moral authority.
Sudhakar said: “For those who behave like ‘maryada purushottamas’ or ‘Sri Ramachandras’ (honest and righteous men), I am challenging you. That an investigation be carried out on the private life of the 225 MLA and that it is known who has had illicit relationships or extramarital affairs? ”
Appointed leader of the opposition Siddaramaiah, former CM HD Kumaraswamy, President of KPCC DK Shivakumar, former speaker KR Ramesh Kumar and MLA V Muniyappa Congress. “They are all ‘Satya Harishchandras’ and strictly practice monogamy in their life, don’t they?”
This caused acute reactions. “No one should make such statements that bring discredit to the House and its members”, President Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri saying.
Siddaramaiah said: “The declaration amounts to a violation of the privilege of the MLA. Let the government order an investigation against the 225 MLA ”.
Kumaraswamy also criticized Sudhakar: “You have created this situation by going to court. If he had followed decorum in public life, this situation would not have arisen. “However, he admitted that he had once” slipped “into his personal life.
Shivakumar mocked Sudhakar for giving “precious words” to the state. “I only have a wife and a family,” he added. BJP MLA Raju Gowda demanded that Sudhakar withdraw his statement.
