“The agricultural reforms of the last few days have also opened new doors of possibility for our farmers … These reforms have not only served to liberate our farmers, but have also given them new rights and opportunities,” Modi said.
He cited the example of a Dhule farmer in Maharashtra, Jitendra Bhoiji, whose payments for his maize crop were pending by traders for four months.
“In this situation, the new agricultural laws that were passed in September came to their aid. Under this law, it was decided that all farmers’ quotas should be settled within three days after the acquisition, otherwise the farmer can file a complaint, ”said Mr. Modi.

The farmer was able to file a complaint and get his outstanding quotas settled within days, the prime minister said.
“Whatever the field, correct knowledge, free from misconceptions and hearsay, can act as a force multiplier for each individual,” he said.
The prime minister cited the example of the executive director of an agricultural producers organization, Mohammad Aslam, from Baran in Rajasthan, who was spreading awareness among farmers about market prices through a WhatsApp group.
“To the young people, especially the thousands of students studying agriculture, I ask you to visit the nearby villages and talk to the farmers and make them aware of the innovations in agriculture and the recent agricultural reforms.” he said.
At the beginning of his speech, he spoke about the importance of culture in a time of crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic. Modi said it had been about a year since the first COVID-19 case was reported.
“Since then, the whole world has experienced several ups and downs. Coming out of the lockdown now, the discussion about a vaccine has begun, however any kind of negligence regarding Corona can be deadly even now. We have to continue to fight firmly against Corona, ”he said.
