Manmohan Singh Health News: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh admitted to AIIMS after complaining of chest pain

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was admitted to the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, after he complained of chest pain tonight, according to the PTI news agency.

Dr. Singh, 87, is under observation in the cardio-thoracic ward of the first hospital. He was admitted by Dr. Nitish Naik, professor of cardiology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), around 8:45 p.m.

In 2009, the then 76-year-old Prime Minister of India was operated by a team of doctors led by a Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgeon and Vice President of the Asian Heart Institute, Dr. Ramakanta Panda. He underwent surgery for cardiac revascularization surgery. After surgery, Dr. Singh has been living an active and healthy life.

Five shunts were performed in Singh, who had already undergone bypass surgery in the early 1990s, and then underwent a stenting procedure in 2004.

Manmohan Singh is one of the main leaders of the opposition Congress and currently represents Rajasthan in the Upper House of Parliament. He was prime minister between 2004 and 2014.
