People coming to Lucknow from other states, especially Delhi and its adjacent areas, for Diwali will have to compulsorily undergo COVID-19 testing at bus stops, train stations and the airport, an official said today.
Thirteen Health Department teams have been deployed to all bus stops, train stations and the airport to screen those arriving in the state capital for Diwali and passenger contact details will also be noted, Medical Director of Lucknow (CMO) Dr. Sanjay Said Bhatnagar.
All suspected cases would be tested at their homes, Dr. Bhatnagar said, adding that this step was being taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus during the holiday season.
So far, 66,237 COVID-19 cases and 917 deaths have been recorded in Lucknow.
Special precautions are being taken with people coming to the state capital to celebrate Diwali, particularly from Delhi and its adjacent areas, said Dr. Bhatnagar, adding that people coming from Mumbai are also on the Department’s radar. of health.
The Health Department teams have been stationed at Kaisarbagh, Charbagh, Alambagh, Kamta, Charbagh, Manak Nagar, Badshah Nagar, City Station, Aishbagh, Gomti Nagar, Alambagh train stations, as well as at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport , said.
Screening of passengers arriving in Lucknow from other states began on Friday and will continue through Sunday, the medical director added.
The decision to take all necessary precautions in this regard was made by the district administration in light of the sudden increase in COVID-19 cases in Delhi.
