Following an increase in coronavirus cases, Uttarakhand police have said they will monitor the details of the movement of people from other states to Uttarakhand.
This has come at a time when Covid-19 cases in Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun are on the rise.
With this announcement, Uttarakhand has joined states such as Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, which have required Covid-19 testing for people arriving from Delhi.
“Strict instructions are given to policemen stationed at border checkpoints to check and keep all details of people coming from other states to Uttarakhand,” the news agency. AND ME cited Arun Mohan Joshi, Dehradun’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG).
People coming from external states, especially from the national capital, will be allowed to enter the state’s Ashkrodi, Kulhan and Pass Gate border checkpoints only after undergoing the Rapid Antigen Covid-19 test.
Meanwhile, the state capital of Uttarakhand is preparing for a weekly closure of all markets starting today, with the exception of stores selling essentials.
Currently, the state has recorded 4,812 active cases of coronavirus, while 67,514 people have recovered from the deadly virus, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) newsletter reported today.
