Hyderabad:

A man is seen being swept away by the avalanche of water in a dramatic image that has emerged from Hyderabad, one of the worst affected districts in Telangana that has seen heavy rain for the past three days. It is unclear if the man has been rescued.

In the dramatic video filmed in Barkas, near Falaknuma, the man is seen being carried away by strong streams of rainwater as efforts are made to save him. The man tries to hold on to a pole that gets in the way, but fails when pushed by the strong currents. Two people are seen standing on an elevated path looking helplessly amid the screams of locals trying to save the man. An inner tube is seen, possibly thrown to prevent it from drowning, floating with it.

Several areas of Hyderabad, which is among the 14 affected districts in Telangana, have received 20cm of rain in the past 24 hours.

Dramatic images of vehicles washed away by strong streams of rainwater have also emerged from the state capital.

Twelve people, including a two-month-old child, have died in a rain-related incident in Hyderabad in the past 24 hours. Nine people died after a wall of the complex collapsed and fell on 10 houses due to heavy rains last night.

The meteorological department, in its latest forecast, valid from 8.30 a.m. M. From October 14 until 8.30 a.m. M. From October 15, has forecast heavy to very heavy rains in isolated locations over Telangana.

The rains were triggered by a deep depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal that led to heavy rains in several districts of Telangana, according to the meteorological department.

The depression over western parts of Telangana, the meteorological department forecast, will move to the west northwest and gradually weaken into a well-marked, low-pressure area over the next 12 hours. “Depression in western parts of Telangana near the 17.7 degrees latitude and longitude 78.1 degreesE, about 50 km west of Hyderabad (Telangana) is a possible cause of the sudden gush of rainwater in the city and the surrounding areas. This depression will move to the west northwest and will gradually weaken to become a well-marked, low-pressure zone in the next 12 hours, “according to IMD.
