Man drags traffic policeman on car hood to avoid ticket for not wearing mask


An on-duty traffic police personnel were dragged on the hood of a car in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, after he tried to stop the vehicle when he saw people inside without masks.

The driver of the car has been arrested for trying to evade a fine for not wearing a mask.

The policeman had to hang himself from the hood of the car, driven by a man who kept driving until he was forced to stop by two-wheelers who were pursuing the vehicle.

According to the complaint registered at the Chinchwad police station, the local traffic police were on duty. They controlled people in their vehicles, who were not wearing masks.

Abasaheb Sawant, the police staff working with the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Traffic Division has suffered a leg injury. A case has been registered at the Chinchwad Police Station under sections 307, 353, 323, 279 and 24 (a), 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act.

The accused has been identified as Yuvraj Hanuvate (49).
