Sant Baba Ram Singh

A 65-year-old man, identified as a religious leader, committed suicide near the Singhu border, where farmers have been protesting for the past 20 days, on Wednesday.

In an alleged suicide note, Sant Baba Ram Singh said that the plight of the farmers hurt him. “I cannot bear the difficult situation of the farmers. Tolerating a crime is as bad as provoking it. Several people have made sacrifices for his cause, ”the note reads.

At an evening press conference, Singhu’s peasant leaders confirmed the death and expressed their condolences to his family.

Singh, also known as Nanaksar Singhra Wale, was known for his religious preaching. It was based in Karnal.

In a video clip, Akali spokesman and chairman of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, said: “He was a great man who dedicated his life to the cause of the people … I call on everyone to keep calm as some may use this to cause harm. “

Darshan Pal from BKU said: “Earlier today, we learned of his death. We also found a letter in which he said that he could not bear the pain of the farmers. It is true that many people come here and can be moved by what they see. And the way this government is treating them. Death saddens us and we extend our condolences to the family ”.
