Man claiming to be member of Dawood gang calls Uddhav Thackeray, reinforced security at CM residence – mumbai news


Security at the residence of Maharashtra’s chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, ‘Matoshree’ in Mumbai Bandra, increased after an unidentified man called him, saying he was calling from Dubai on behalf of the fugitive underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim.

“Security has been tightened at the Maharashtra CM residence as a precautionary measure after two calls were received on the Matoshree landline in which the caller said he was calling on Dawood’s behalf,” said an official from policeman.

“The phone at CM Thackeray’s residence rang twice around 10:30 PM on Saturday. The caller wanted to speak to the CM. We are trying to locate the caller, ”added the official.

Local police were also informed about the calls later, after which an additional security force was deployed outside the bungalow, the official said.

According to him, no case was registered in this regard.

“We are trying to verify if the calls received were from Dubai or from some other place. The investigation is underway, ”a senior police official told the PTI news agency.
