Describing Netaji as one of the “greatest sons of Bengal”, Banerjee in his letter to Prime Minister Modi said: “You are well aware that the 125th birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be celebrated on January 23, 2022. . Netaji, one of the greatest sons of Bengal, is a national hero, a national leader and an icon of the Indian freedom movement against British rule. He is an inspiration to all generations. Under his tireless leadership, thousands of Brave soldiers of the Indian National Army made a supreme sacrifice of the motherland. ”
“Netaji’s birthday is celebrated every year across the country with great dignity and reverence. Please remember that for a long time, we have been requesting the Central Government to declare Netaji’s birthday a National Holiday. However, this did not materialize. until now, “Banerjee said.
“In order to pay tribute to our great leader and National Hero, we reiterate our request that January 23 be declared a National Holiday,” he added.
He said that on the occasion of the beginning of the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the birth of Netaji, this would be a “very appropriate recognition for the National Leader”, who is an epitome of determination, courage, leadership, unity and love for the country. .
Banerjee also asked the central government to take decisive action to find out “what happened to Netaji and put the matter in the public domain so that people know what finally happened to the great leader.”

The people of the country and especially of Bengal have the right to know the truth on this matter. Banerjee said that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has a “special place in our hearts.”
