Kolkata (West Bengal):
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will keep the Ministry of Transport portfolio in her office after Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s resignation from office.
Hours earlier, the leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Suvendu Adhikari, resigned from his ministerial position.
Tweeting Suvendu Adhikari’s resignation letter, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said the issue will be addressed from a “constitutional” perspective.
“Today at 1:05 pm I have been sent a letter of resignation from Mr. Suvendu Adhikari from his post as Minister addressed to the Honorable Chief Minister. The issue will be addressed from a constitutional perspective,” the governor tweeted.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya has said that if TMC MLA Suvendu Adhikari comes to the BJP, he will be welcomed into the party.
Previously, on various occasions, such as in Nandigram and Midnapore, Suvendu Adhikari was seen holding public meetings without the party’s symbol, flag or banner. Even Suvendu Adhikari posters had also appeared in some districts of the state.
