Calcutta: West Bengal’s chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, granted land rights to 25,000 refugee families on Wednesday (4 November) and said a total of 1.25,000 families would receive land rights. The Chief Minister was interacting with representatives of different communities, folk and traditional artists where she formally began handing out pattas to refugees, many of whom represented backward communities.
Mamata also allocated a grant of Rs 10 crore and Rs 5 crore for the Matua Development Board and the Namashudra Development Board respectively.
