BANKURA: Calling the BJP “garbage of lies” and “the nation’s greatest curse”, west bengal chief minister Mamata banerjee on Wednesday she challenged the saffron party to arrest her and claimed she will make sure TMC victory in the next elections even from jail.
Election for the 294-member West Bengal assembly is scheduled for April-May.
Banerjee, without naming anyone, accused the BJP of trying to rob TMC’s MLAs by trying to bribe them, and said that some people act as vigilantes who have the illusion that the saffron party could come to power in the state.
“The BJP is not a political party but garbage of lies. Whenever elections come around, they bring up the issue of Narada (sting operation) and Saradha (scam) to intimidate TMC leaders.
“But let me tell you very clearly, I am not afraid of the BJP or their agencies. If they have guts, they can arrest me and put me behind bars. I will fight the elections from jail and ensure the victory of TMC.” “Banerjee said at his first major public rally here in post-COVID times.
Referring to the recently concluded Bihar elections, Banerjee said that even the leader of RJD Lalu Prasad Yadav has been put behind bars but still ensured the good performance of his match.

Attacking the BJP for allegedly trying to intimidate and bribe TMC’s MLAs, Banerjee said: “Few people have the illusion that they (BJP) will come to power, so some people are trying to risk it. But I want to say this clearly. , there is no chance or ‘chance’ that the BJP will come to power. We will return to power with a greater mandate. ”
The TMC has governed the state since 2011.
