KOLKATA: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the Center on Wednesday for sending teams to investigate West Bengal’s readiness to tackle the Covid-19 outbreak and suspected faulty test kits were sent to the state.
Mamata Banerjee’s comments came a day after a war of words broke out between West Bengal and the Union government about the arrival of two central teams to the state to assess the situation of Covid-19.
“Every day canards are rolled out that only a few are being tested in Bengal for Covid-19. This is absolutely untrue. Defective kits were shipped to Bengal and have now been recalled. We did not even get the proper test kits.” he said at a press conference.
“Every day they (Centro) tell us what to do and what not to do, sending people to investigate the situation of law and order and our preparation against the coronavirus. They send us very redacted letters. We can also send them letters.” But that’s not the point, “he said.
Banerjee said his government is doing the best it can to stop the spread of the pandemic.
