The West Bengal government has decided to offer a special “Durga Puja gift” to technicians in the state. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Friday that employees of state-owned Webel Ltd and technicians from contracted agencies will now be treated as contract employees of the state government.
The prime minister said they will get several benefits from this announcement, including job security up to age 60.
“Bengal is known for its e-government and today I am pleased to announce my Pujo gift to young IT staff working to improve our electronic services for the people of Bengal. IT staff engaged with Webel / WTL / agencies in state government will now be required to participate directly as GoWB contract staff, “he tweeted.
“They will also get 30 days of leave and 10 days of medical leave a year along with the usual maternity leave for women.
