Starting Tuesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will launch the ‘My Family, My Responsibility’ campaign, as part of the government’s state-wide program to check the health status of more than 26 lakh of families in Mumbai to contain the spread of coronavirus disease. (COVID-19).
On the eve of the campaign’s launch, state prime minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday called on officials to ensure its success.
The CM interacted with all the division commissioners and district collectors via videoconference. Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope, Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar and others also attended the meeting, according to an official statement.
The prime minister said the government machine has been working around the clock for the past five or six months to tackle the disease, but the challenge is not over yet, he said.
Thackeray said the government was unlocking the state in a phased manner and that living with the new coronavirus is a reality now.
“Ensuring that no one is infected with the disease is the key mantra and our squads will reach out to homes to inform people about this,” Thackeray said in the statement.
In the first phase of the ‘My family, my responsibility’ initiative, the government has set itself the goal of reaching 2.25 million families twice a month, for which it will take the help of NGOs and elected representatives .
The health department will appoint volunteers to conduct a door-to-door survey and test people’s temperature and oxygen levels.
The teams will track suspected Covid-19 patients and those suffering from other ailments, according to the government.
The first phase of the campaign will end on October 10 and the second phase will take place between October 12 and 24.
