Maharashtra’s Covid-19 count crosses the 9 lakh mark with a record 23,350 new cases in one day

The city of Mumbai reported 1,910 new cases and 37 deaths, bringing its count to 1,55,622 and the number to 7,866, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated.

These cases comprise 1,23,478 recoveries so far, including 911 patients recovering today and 23,930 active cases, the civic body said.

One reason for the growth in the number of positive cases is the increase in the number of tests, he said, adding that last month, the state conducted 20,16,809 tests.

“The number of tests performed through August 1 was 21,94,943, which increased to 42,11,752 on September 1. The state is conducting aggressive tests that are helping to detect infected people,” the official said.

The official reported that the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths is continuously increasing in the state.
