Raigad police arrested three people on Wednesday for allegedly trespassing on the country house of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in Khalapur in Raigad.

Police said two of them posed as reporters for a leading news channel and allegedly mistreated and threatened security guards after illegally entering the premises. According to officials, the incident took place around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Confirming the arrest, Police Superintendent Anil Paraskar (Raigad) said: “Two of them claim they are from a news channel, which we are trying to verify.”

Another officer said: “The complainant works as a security guard at the lodge and was given night service on Tuesday. So, as he was walking to the farm, these three men in a Wagon-R car asked him the address of Thackeray’s farm. “

The whistleblower felt something was wrong so he lied saying he did not know the address, police said. However, minutes later, while he was on duty at the door of the lodge, these three men entered the security guard’s room and abused him.

“The three invaded, threatened, abused and mistreated the security guard,” said an officer.

The security guard noted the vehicle’s registration number and reported the incident to Khalapur Police Station, after which their car was seized at a toll booth in Navi Mumbai and the three were captured.

Based on the guard’s statement, all three have been registered under sections 452 (trespassing after preparation for harm, assault, or undue restraint), 448 (punishment for trespassing), 323 (punishment for willfully causing harm ), 504 (intentional insult with intent to cause violation of public order), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code.

The incident comes days after Thackeray’s Bandra residence ‘Matoshree’ received a call from an unknown person who claimed he was calling on Dawood Ibrahim’s behalf.
