While the states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi continue to contribute the largest number of new cases of Coronavirus, is one of the states with a much smaller number of cases that are showing a faster growth rate of the past few days.

The five states with the highest number of cases — Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Delhiand Rajasthan — account for over 70 per cent of all positive cases in India. Also regularly contribute more than 70 percent of the new cases detected every day. However, the restriction of Maharashtra, the other four currently have rates of growth (average of 7 days of growth) are lower than the national average. Maharashtra was also growing at a lower rate until two days ago, but more than 2,000 new cases each day for the past three days has ensured that their rate is slightly higher than the national average.

On the other hand, Bihar and Odisha, which have much smaller number of cases – Bihar has a little over 1,600 now, while Odisha has a little more than 1,100 – has grown very fast in the last ten days. This is due to the detection of positive cases among a large number of workers returning to their homes of their places of work in other states. These new cases, although significantly lower than those reported by Maharashtra or Gujarat every day – have resulted in increased rates of growth due to the lower base.

States as Himachal Pradesh and Assam, which has even a lesser amount of cases, are also in the midst of a similar trend. One more important thing in these states, however, is that new cases of the signal of a resurgence. Almost all of the above infected people in these states have been recovered, and there were no new cases for a long time.

But in the last week, both states have reported several new cases. All of the 41 people infected had recovered in Himachal Pradesh, but in the last ten days have been 69 new cases, taking a total of 110. In the same way, almost every one of the 43 positive cases in Assam had recovered by the start of this month, but a fresh of the infections have been detected and the state now has a total of 170 cases. Goa has discovered 43 new cases in the last week, more than a month after their seven previous infections had recovered and gone home.

A little less the number of new cases were detected on Wednesday in comparison with the previous day, but is still likely to be in excess of 5,000 once Delhi also reports its numbers for the day. Tamil Nadu, after a few days of slight decrease in its daily numbers, reported 743 cases on Wednesday to take his tally past 13,000, while Maharashtra now has close to 40,000 cases on its own.
