Maharashtra sees 3,537 new Covid-19 cases, 70 more die | Mumbai News


MUMBAI: The Covid-19 count in Maharashtra rose to 19,28,603 on Wednesday with the addition of 3,537 new cases, the state health department said.
With 70 more people succumbing to the viral disease, the total death toll in the state rose to 49,463, he said.
A total of 4,913 people were discharged after treatment during the day, bringing the cumulative recovery count in Maharashtra to 18,24,934, the department said in a statement.
Maharashtra is now left with 53,066 active cases, it said. The recovery rate for Covid-19 cases in the state was 94.62 percent and the death rate is 2.56 percent.
With 71,505 new coronavirus tests, the number of samples tested so far in Maharashtra has risen to 1,26,72,259, the department said.
The city of Mumbai recorded 714 new positive coronavirus cases on the day and 13 deaths, bringing the number of cases to 2.92,722 and the death count to 11,107.
The Mumbai Circle, which includes the city of Mumbai and the satellite towns, reported 1,240 new Covid-19 cases and 20 deaths. The number of cases in the Mumbai circle has reached 6,59,723 while the death toll is 1,90,78.
The Nashik administrative circle reported 526 new cases of Covid-19, including 184 in the city of Nashik.
The Pune Circle added 763 new cases, including 294 in Pune City and 161 in Pimpri Chinchwad. The Kolhapur circle added 55 cases, the Aurangabad circle 64, the Latur circle 157, the Akola circle 182, the Nagpur circle 550, including 275 cases in Nagpur city, according to the statement.
