Maharashtra schools for classes 9-12 will reopen from November 23, 2020. State Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has shared the dates. In an interview, he has also said that the Maharashtra SSC 2021 HSC Board Exams are not possible before May. The announcement comes shortly after the decision of the Gujarat Board and the Andhra Board to postpone the Class 10, 12 Board Exams of 2021 to a later date.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Education, MSBSHSE generally takes exams 10 (SSC) and 12 (HSC) in the month of February and March. This year, however, the exams would be postponed and probably not before May.
Gaikwad noted that the students have not had physical classes this year. He also said that exams are usually done earlier. The state government, therefore, would want to hold classes first. Also, there are no alternatives and that the Maharashtra SSC, HSC 2021 board exams should be postponed. The Maharashtra government has already reduced the SSC and HSC exam curriculum by 25% to make up for lost time. While classes are being taught online, the reopening of schools, especially for the upper classes, is considered important, especially from the perspective of board examinations.
Guidelines, standard operating procedures and official notice on the reopening of schools in Maharashtra are expected to be released soon from 23 November. According to central guidelines, published by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, the attendance of students would be strictly voluntary and with the consent of the parents.
