In an interview, Varsha Gaikwad stated that the State Government, in its standard operating procedures on the reopening of schools, had clearly asked local bodies to speak with parents and teachers and to assess the situation on the ground before taking the decision. decision to reopen the school. Following the same, BMC has announced its decision to keep all Mumbai schools closed until December 31st.
Regarding schools in other districts like Nashik, Pune, etc., Gaikwad was able to confirm that he had spoken to the various collectors in the district and asked them to make a decision based on his evaluation.
“However, local officials, such as the municipal commissioner, the district collector, the block development officer at Zilla Parishads and the education officer, will have to discuss the situation in their respective areas and reopen schools accordingly,” Gaikwad said. “They are expected to consider the current coronavirus situation and the health of students, as well as teaching staff,” he added.
