Active coronavirus cases in India fell below the seven lakh mark for the third day in a row on Sunday, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The total number of cases has exceeded 7.8 million, while the number of victims of the disease is 118,534.

Up to 7,078,123 people have recovered from the infection either in home isolation or have been discharged from the hospital. Meanwhile, several states have pledged to provide the Covid-19 vaccine to people for free.

The global count of infections has reached 42.5 million and the peak number of cases still coming from the United States is 8,571,943. The toll has increased to 1,148,943.
