Bombay:

A 45-year-old man in Maharashtra died yesterday, shortly after taking a second dose of the Covid vaccine.

Sukhdev Kirdat from Bhiwandi, who was working as a driver with an ophthalmologist, fainted in an observation room about 15 minutes after taking the second dose.

The father of two was taken to the nearby Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Doctors say the cause of death is not yet known and may be clearer after an autopsy.

He had taken his first dose on January 28 as a healthcare worker.

“He took his first dose a month ago and there was no problem. There was a full checkup before this dose. We found out that he had blood pressure for many years. There were symptoms like swollen feet. But here was his blood pressure.” normal and oxygen was also normal, “said KR Kharat, a doctor at the hospital.

“It is difficult to say what caused the death. There will be an autopsy to establish that,” added Dr. Kharat.

People over 60 and those over 45 with other diseases are being vaccinated in the second round of vaccines nationwide. Frontline and healthcare workers received doses in the first round.

On Tuesday, Maharashtra vaccinated 33,044 people, slightly more than the day before but much lower than the daily vaccinations as of last week.
