Mumbai: Maharashtra Interior Minister Anil Deshmukh said on Friday that Mumbai police were investigating the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput very well, but suddenly the case was turned over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“People have been waiting for the last and a half months to see the results of the CBI investigation. Did Sushant Singh Rajput die by suicide or was he killed? Mumbai police were investigating very well when all of a sudden the case was turned over to the CBI. They should tell us the result as soon as possible, “Deshmukh said.

In early September 30, in a veiled attack on the BJP, Deshmukh said that a national political party tried to smear the Maharashtra and Mumbai police for political gain, ahead of the Bihar polls and stressed that AIIMS stated that it did not there were traces of poison on the late actor Sushant Singh. Previously, the CBI brought a three-member special team of AIIMS doctors here to Rajput’s home in Mumbai for a forensic examination and further investigation.

The agency had filed an FIR against actor Rhea Chakraborty and others in connection with the Rajput’s death after the Center accepted the Bihar government’s recommendation to transfer the investigation into the matter from Patna.

Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14.
