Maharashtra Governor Allows Seniors To Take Online Exam: Uday Samant – Education

Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari has given students permission to sit for seniors exams online from home, state Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant said on Thursday.

He said that the state government will ask the University Scholarship Commission (UGC) to extend the existing deadline for taking exams from late September to late October, adding that the harshness of the exams will also be reduced.

The Supreme Court had confirmed the UGC guidelines last week and said that no state and university can promote students in the final year / semester without taking exams. The court also ruled that the UGC’s directives to universities and colleges to take senior exams before September 30 were within its domain.

“Governor BS Koshyari has given permission to seniors to take exams online. They can give tests from home, ”Samant said.

“We are also planning to present the results before October 31 to save the students’ academic year,” he added.

Samant, along with the department’s prime minister Prajakt Tanpure, had met with Koshyari at the Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday to discuss the issue of taking examinations in light of the Supreme Court verdict.

The minister said he held a meeting with 13 vice-chancellors of public universities on how to take the final year exams according to the instructions of the higher court.

“We plan to take the practical exams in September. All the works and their evaluation will be finished before October 31 and the result will be available at that time ”, she said.

“The practical exams could take place from September 15th. We are also trying to take these exams online instead of having students visit universities, ”he said.

“We are also going to ask the UGC to extend the current deadline for exams from the end of September to the end of October. We will also reduce the harshness of the exams, ”he said.

In its order, the CV had said that if any state or territory of the Union, in exercise of its jurisdiction under the Disaster Management Act, has decided that it is not possible to take the exam before September 30, then it can submit a request to the UGC for an extension of the term.
