Maharashtra Government Extends Covid-19 Lockdown Restrictions Until Jan 31


A day after Maharashtra’s coronavirus case burden rose to 19,25,066 with 3,018 new cases, the Uddhav Thackeray government announced on Wednesday an extension of the lockdown in the state until January 31 next year.

According to a government statement, the lockdown rules will be in effect until midnight on January 31.

In its order, the government of Maharashtra, under its ‘Mission start over’ plan, said that the gradual opening of activities in Maharashtra “will remain in effect until January 31, 2021 for the containment of the COVID-I 9 epidemic in Maharashtra state and government departments shall strictly implement these guidelines. “

The activities, which are already allowed and permitted from time to time, will continue and all previous orders will align with this order and remain in effect until the end of January next year, the state government declared in its new order.

Meanwhile, three more passengers who returned from the UK to Mumbai after November 25 have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of these patients to 15 so far.

In Maharashtra, 11 new cases were added on Tuesday, bringing the state count to 43.

The Maharashtra government had previously imposed a night curfew on all municipal areas of the state. The curfew is in effect from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and will remain in effect until January 5.
