Maharashtra extends Covid-19 lockdown until October 31, but reopens various sectors


Amid the Covid-19 cases in the state, the Maharashtra government on Wednesday extended the shutdown in the state until the end of October with more relaxations outside the containment zones.

The state government established a series of guidelines that include relaxation for people.

As the state previously declared, hotels, food, restaurants and bars will be able to operate as of October 5 with a capacity that does not exceed 50% of the total staff. The separate SOP will be shared by the Department of Tourism for the necessary precautions that the establishments must take.

All intrastate trains in the state will be able to resume with immediate effect subject to protocols related to Covid-19, the government added.

Dabbawallas can travel on local Mumbai trains. Local train services will resume in Pune.

However, metro services in the state will not be operational during this closure phase.

Movie theaters and schools will remain closed even as the Center announces 5 new unlocking guidelines, the state government said.
