The rule, applicable equally to air and train arrivals to Maharashtra, takes effect from Wednesday to prevent an increase in positive cases in the state. Air travelers must now take the Covid test within 72 hours of their flight.
Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar issued an order exempting the flight crew from this requirement on Wednesday.
Entitled “Exemption from the RT-PCR test for all flight and cabin crew of all airlines at all airports in the state,” it reads: “The state government has received a request from Air India indicating that it is operating flights from Vande Bharat and multiple cargo flights in and out of Maharashtra on a regular basis. This means that large numbers of flight and cabin crew travel to Maharashtra from various states to operate or position themselves for flight duties on a daily basis. ”
“However, according to State guidelines, the Covid RT-PCR test has been made mandatory for all people arriving at airports, causing delays in flight scheduling. In light of the above, it is stated that henceforth all service cabin crew and cabin crew of all airlines carrying valid identity cards will be exempt from RT-PCR testing at all Maharashtra airports. , subject to the monitoring of all the necessary protocols related to Covid by the respective airlines in (this) sense ”, he says.
