Happy Durga Navami 2020 (Maha Navami) 2020 Wishes Images, Messages, Photos and Status: The end of the nine-day festival of Navratri it is observed as Durga Navami who comes a day before Vijaya Dashmi. It is also the third and last day of Durga Puja festivals. The day has meaning as it is a precursor to the defeat of the evil buffalo demon king Mahisasur. To mark her victory, the goddess Durga is worshiped as Mahisasurmardini, which literally translates to slayer of demons. Maha Navami is celebrated throughout India in most states as part of the 10-day Durga Puja festival, but it assumes prominence in West Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Tripura, Jharkhand, and Bihar. The Goddess is worshiped with great enthusiasm. Durga Navami rituals begin with a holy bath followed by a Shodhasopachar puja (a ritual worship of the Goddess).
One of the important things to keep in mind is the Navami Tithi start time. The precise rule is that if Ashtami and Navami merge before Sanyakal in Ashtami Tithi, then Ashtami Puja and Navami Puja, including Sandhi Puja, are performed on the same day.
