In the video, Madhya Pradesh Police Director General (indictment), Purushottam Sharma, is seen beating his wife (ANI).

A video of a senior IPS official in Madhya Pradesh assaulting his wife went viral on Monday, after which he was relieved of his duties. In the video, Madhya Pradesh Chief of Police (prosecution), Purushottam Sharma, is seen brutally beating his wife as she tries to resist the assault.

“The officer has been relieved of his duties. Action will be taken against anyone who holds a position of responsibility but engages in illegal activities and takes justice into their own hands, ”the PTI quoted Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as saying.

The state Department of the Interior has demanded an explanation from Sharma and has requested to send its response before 5 p.m. Tuesday based on the course of action that will be taken.

The incident reportedly took place after Sharma’s wife learned of their alleged extramarital affair. The order to remove the 1986 IPS officer from the post of Director (Prosecutor’s Office) was issued by the undersecretary of the state Department of the Interior, Annu Bhalavi.

The incident came to light after Sharma’s son, Parth, deputy commissioner of the Income Tax Department, sent the video to the state’s interior minister, Narottam Mishra, and some high-ranking bureaucrats, and requested that he register. a complaint against his father.

Addressing reporters, Sharma, who has been married for 32 years, said it was a family dispute and not a crime. She also alleged that her wife “stalked” her and installed cameras in her home to monitor her.

“We have been married for 32 years. In 2008, she had complained against me. But the fact is that since 2008 she lives in my house, enjoys all the facilities and travels abroad with my expenses, ”said Sharma.

“If my nature is abusive, then he should have complained earlier. This is a family dispute, not a crime. I am neither a violent person nor a criminal. It’s a shame I have to go through this. My wife is stalking me and has put cameras in the house, “he also said.

When asked what action would be taken against Sharma, the state interior minister told PTI: “If I receive a written complaint, it will be examined. I’ve also seen it (the video). “

The chairwoman of the state women’s commission, Shobha Oza, called the incident highly objectionable and shameful. She said the action taken by the state government against Sharma was “inappropriate” and demanded his immediate
termination of service and registration of a criminal case against him.
