NEW DELHI: Domestic cooking gas became more expensive by Rs 25 on Monday, the fourth increase in the last 24 days bringing the total increase to Rs 125 per cylinder.
Gas prices for cooking have been rising since December. The fees have cumulatively increased by 175 rupees per recharge since then.
After the latest increase, a 14.2 kg domestic cylinder will cost 819 rupees in Delhi, down from 794 rupees.
LPG Prices first increased by 25 rupees per cylinder on February 4, followed by an increase of 50 rupees per cylinder on February 15 and an increase of 25 rupees on February 25.
Consumers have to pay the market price and the government is supposed to provide a subsidy to domestic consumers covered by the net subsidy. But the subsidy was eliminated in metropolitan areas and major cities through successive price increases in the last two years.
So in Delhi, for example, consumers have been paying the market price without the support of subsidies.
Executives at state fuel retailers said a small subsidy is paid to customers in remote and remote areas to offset higher freight costs.
Jet fuel prices also rose by Rs 3,663 per kiloliter, or 6.5%, on Monday, the third since February. After review, jet fuel costs Rs 59,400 per kilo in Delhi and varies based on VAT collected by other states.
This is the third increase in jet fuel prices since February. Rates increased by almost 4% on February 16 and February 1.
