NEW DELHI: The Union Department of the Interior released detailed guidelines Friday that specify the activities allowed in the three zones, Red, Orange and Green, apart from what is allowed and not allowed across the country.
Here’s a list of what’s prohibited and what’s allowed across the country and in the areas:
Activities prohibited throughout the country, regardless of the area:
* Air, rail, subway, and interstate highway travel.
* Operation of schools, colleges and other educational and training institutions.
* Hospitality services, including hotels and restaurants.
* Places of large public gatherings such as movie theaters, shopping malls, gyms, sports complexes, etc. social, political, cultural and other gatherings and religious places or places of worship for the public.
* The movement of people, for all non-essential activities, will be strictly prohibited between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.
* In all areas, people over the age of 65, people with comorbidities, pregnant women, and children under the age of 10 must remain in their homes, except to meet essential requirements and for health purposes.
Activities allowed:
* Movement of people by air, rail and road is permitted for select purposes, and for the purposes permitted by the Ministry of the Interior
* Outpatient departments (OPD) and medical clinics must operate in red, orange, and green areas, with social distance regulations and other safety precautions. However, these will not be allowed inside the containment zones.
* All freight traffic must be allowed, and no state or Union territory will stop cargo movement for cross-border trade under treaties with neighboring countries.
Red zone:
* In these areas, outside the containment areas, certain activities are prohibited in addition to those prohibited throughout the country.
* These are bicycle rickshaws and auto rickshaws, taxi driving and taxi aggregators, transportation in and out of the bus and barber district, spas and salons.
* Certain other activities have been allowed in restricted red zones.
* The movement of people and vehicles is allowed only for permitted activities, with a maximum of 2 people (in addition to the driver) in four-wheeled vehicles and without a passenger in the case of two-wheeled vehicles.
* Stores are not allowed in urban areas, for non-essential goods, in shopping malls, markets and market complexes.
* However, all independent (individual) stores, neighborhood stores (colonia) and stores in residential complexes may remain open in urban areas, without distinction between essential and nonessential.
* Industrial establishments have been allowed in urban areas, such as Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Export Oriented Units (EOUs), industrial estates and industrial municipalities with access control.
* Private offices can operate with a force of up to 33 percent as required, with the rest of the people working from home.
Orange zone:
* In addition to the activities allowed in the red zone, taxis and taxi aggregators will be allowed with only 1 driver and 1 passenger.
* Movement of people and vehicles between districts will be allowed only for permitted activities. Four-wheeled vehicles will have a maximum of two passengers in addition to the driver and passengers will be allowed to drive in two-wheeled vehicles.
Green area:
* All activities are allowed, except the limited number of activities that are prohibited throughout the country, regardless of the area.
* However, buses can operate with a seating capacity of up to 50 percent and bus depots can operate with a capacity of up to 50 percent.
