Amid reports that LJP Chairman Chirag Paswan is “consulting” with his father, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, before officially announcing the party’s decision to compete outside the NDA in Bihar, the Speculation about a multi-corner competition in the state of the polls is getting louder. .
The LJP, which was to meet on Saturday to make the final decision on whether to go with the NDA or strike only 143 seats in the next Assembly elections in Bihar, postpone the meeting to Sunday after Chirag Paswan had to “rush to the hospital to see his sick father.”
However, before doing that, he posted his photo with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where he said he was inspired by the prime minister and hoped that he would bless his efforts to make ‘Bihar first and Bihari first’ “so that all of his candidates can become stronger. the hands of the Prime Minister ”.

“I am proud to have had the opportunity to work as a deputy with a prime minister whose skillful leadership is known throughout the world. Taking inspiration from Prime Minister Modi, the Lok Janshakti Party prepared the ‘Bihar First, Bihari First Vision Document 2020’ with the suggestion of four lakh Biharis for Bihar and Bihari to come to the forefront. I not only hope, but believe that you (Prime Minister Modi) will give your blessing to bring Bihar to the forefront and help bring back its lost identity and glory so that all my candidates can strengthen the hands of the respected Prime Minister, ”he wrote in a post on social media.
It should be noted that this is the last meeting of the LJP Parliamentary Board that wants to contest 143 seats in the next elections.
It is also believed that Chirag Paswan, who recently contacted Interior Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda LJP, and the differences with Supreme JD-U and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, told them about the pressure within of his party to contest at least 143 seats at the polls for the 243-member Bihar Assembly.
The LJP has said it will contest 143 seats if it does not get “honorable” treatment within the NDA. At the same time, she also claimed not to compete against the BJP.
In the 2015 Assembly elections, the LJP contested 42 seats and won two. The JD (U) was then with the opposition alliance.
There are reportedly signs in Patna with the slogan “Modi se bair nahi, Nitish teri khair nahi” (No problem with Modi, but Nitish is done).
It is not only the question of the number that the party demands, but also the quality of the seats. Interestingly, the LJP leaders, who have claimed that the party will not fight in the seats the BJP will fight for, also promise to back a BJP CM on the post-election stage.
LJP sources assure that it is the right time to project Chirag Paswan as leader in the state “where Nitish Kumar is waging his last elections and there is also a leadership vacuum.” This is the best time to expand the LJP due to Nitish Kumar’s antitrust, they add.
